In its latest financial report, the Japanese publisher outlined its core strategies for the next 3 and 5 years, which includes digging deeper into key properties like Sonic the Hedgehog, Yakuza, Persona, and Total War and actively leveraging past IPs and further developing them with remasters, remakes and reboots. Earlier this week, Microsoft dropped a megaton when it announced it has acquired publisher Activision-Blizzard. The nearly $70 billion deal is expected to close somewhere next year and will make Microsoft the third-largest gaming company by revenue after Tencent and Sony. As expected, following the announcement, people started asking questions about the possible exclusivity of Activision’s massive IPs, including the Diablo and Call of Duty franchises. According to a recent Bloomberg report, Microsoft intends to keep “some” franchises multiplatform, whereas others will become exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem....

During today’s livestream, the Japanese publisher shared the game’s first trailer which confirmed that the game is launching worldwide on PlayStation and Xbox consoles on August 25th. The game will also launch on PC via Steam and the Windows Store the following day, on August 26th. The French developer, who is already known for developing solid action role-playing games like Greedfall, is currently working on Steelrising, an action role-playing game that aims to combine the deep role-playing game mechanics the studio is known for with the Soulslike formula of weighty, stamina-based combat, environmental narrative, and meaningful exploration. And while the game hardly feels original when it comes to the gameplay, I feel that Steelrising does have the potential to set itself apart from other similar games....
